Purpose

Safe Passages was piloted as a community-led school safety initiative. During the pilot, trusted adults were present along identified walking routes during arrival and dismissal to support school and neighborhood safety.

Population served

Akron students, families, schools, and the neighborhoods surrounding them.

What participants experience

  • Trusted adults stationed along identified walking routes during arrival and dismissal.
  • Neighborhood participation from residents, parents, and partner organizations.
  • Coordination with schools on route planning and safety concerns.
  • Follow up support and referrals for students and families who need more than a safe walk.
